NFL Week 13 DraftKings Main Slate Breakdown
December 4, 2021 · Peter MacFarlane · NFL
Welcome to the week thirteen of the Add More Funds DraftKings Main Slate Rundown. Remember, this is a weekly column. We are very excited to bring you high-level content using tools from our website. At AMF, we want to help both the experienced-player and beginners alike. To do this, every week we will release our favorite weekend classic slate plays. We will go position by position highlighting different price points. We will try to find the plays that provide value, whether they are underpriced or possibly, projected to be under-owned. Plays will be denoted as cash game or tournament specific.
Here is our week thirteen NFL DraftKings main slate rundown.
Quarterback:
Tom Brady ($7200) Play in all formats.
Brady is a great option most weeks. This week he especially stands out as his price has dipped just enough that it's his lowest since week four. He also draws an excellent matchup against the Falcons where he will bring his cast of excellent weapons into the Mercedes-Benz Dome and play on the turf with no weather concerns. Even though he will be without Antonio Brown again, Mike Evans ($6,700), Chris Godwin ($6,600), and Rob Gronkowski ($5,300) are all healthy and solid stack options in tourneys.
Kirk Cousins ($6500) Prefer in tournaments but is still strong in cash
This feels a little high for Kirk considering everyone sans Lamar is less than $1,000 more. However, I would use that to your advantage in tournaments especially. The Vikings are going to Detroit (another game with no weather concerns due to their dome) without Dalvin Cook. This will likely prop up their neutral script pass-rate a little bit and we can safely project 1-2 more targets each for players like Justin Jefferson ($8,200) and Adam Thielen ($7,300). Thielen is at his most expensive all season and Jefferson second-most (he was $100 more last week). I think a Vikings stack will allow you to pay up to be contrarian against a lowly Detroit team. Deploy away.
Mike Glennon ($4,000) Cash-game play
I don’t want to dig too deep into this one even though we did get to see Mike Glennon play a fair amount last season. It was unexciting as one might guess. But for this week at that price, we don’t need miracles from Glennon. We consider punt QBs in the mid 5k range getting seventeen points to be decent value. So what do we need from our 4k minimum price QB? I think passing for 225 yards throwing one maybe two if we’re lucky touchdowns with one interception is about where he’ll end up with no rushing. That would be all we need. Anything more is gravy.
Other QB thoughts:
Guys like Heinicke and Tua interest me again in cash but not in tournaments. Both of the QBs in the Chargers-Bengals game are good tournament options along with their teammates in a big stack. I’m avoiding the passing games in the Ravens/Steelers matchup although fading Lamar always is dangerous. I also think I will pass on Kyler Murray for this week and if I am bitten by that I can live with it.
Running Back:
Jonathan Taylor ($9,200) Play in all formats.
He’s crazy expensive and can get somewhat phased out of the game whereas other top backs, (Mccaffrey, Cook) don’t seem to as much. But for this week he’s healthy and they are not, and Taylor is playing the Texans. Over the last four weeks (since Derrick Henry’s injury) here’s Taylors rank in these categories at the running back position: Snaps (second), carries (second), red zone attempts and yards (first), touchdowns (first), and yards is first by a country mile (he is at 556 with the next closest at 352). Taylor is a stud playing a dumpster fire, don’t overthink it.
Darrell Henderson ($6,100)/Sony Michel ($4,300) Cash-game plays
We wrote Henderson up earlier in the season multiple times to great success. Now the Rams draw possibly their best matchup of the season. As of this writing, it appears like Michel may be the lone back as Henderson is questionable if that is the case he becomes a smash must-play in cash formats. And if Henderson is deemed healthy then I think the same can be said for him. Using the AMF sort tool for just week three (Darrell Henderson missed that week with injury) we can see Sony Michel had twenty carries including 95% of the team's total carries. I think with the injuries they have to the receiver position they would have no problem hammering Michel into the Jaguars defense twenty-plus times again.
Antonio Gibson ($5,700) Play in either format but prefer in tournaments
Gibson is an interesting player for a variety of reasons. You wouldn’t think it but he is fifth in the league in carries this season (and that includes Derrick Henry being first still). But he also does not catch passes anywhere near the rate his supporters had projected and fantasy owners crave. Last week against Seattle he caught seven passes for 35 yards which essentially doubled his best receiving game prior in terms of both yards and receptions (he did take one pass 73 yards for a touchdown in week three but that is the massive outlier). He’s not crazy safe in cash but he is super cheap for his workload. I will find ways to get him in some of my lineups this week even if it isn’t my cash game.
Other RB thoughts:
Alexander Mattison ($7,600) is no bargain anymore but against the Lions, he feels like a good play. His counterpart in that game Jamaal Williams ($5,400) is much more of a value and I wouldn’t shy away from him in either format. A sneaky guy I like this week is James Conner ($5,900) in tournaments. I think you can get him with really low ownership at a great price.
Wide Receivers:
Terry Mclaurin ($7,400) Play in either format but prefer in tournaments
I don’t like the WR position really at all this week. There are quite a few teams off the main slate either due to bye week or playing an island game that really zapped the top end of the position and there aren’t many values either. Enter Mclaurin. AMF has Mclaurin second in the NFL in total air yards but leading the entire league in air yards percentage for a player's team (45%). He’s also seen league-high eleven end zone targets. If he and Heinicke can connect at a slightly above average rate this week against a soft Raiders defense I think he’s as good a bet as any to be in the milly-maker lineup.
Hunter Renfrow ($5,800) Cash-game play
With Darren Waller out Henry Ruggs Renfrow just has too large of a role to ignore. I still don't think the upside is that high but he is capable of enough volume that if one of those catches does happen to be a touchdown he can still easily squeak into a winning tournament lineup if you want. I will note I do heavily prefer him and slot receivers in general as cash plays.
Devante Parker ($3,900) Play in all formats.
It is a bit thin coming off an injury (if he even plays) but as I mentioned before I don’t love hardly any WR plays this week. A sub 4k receiver who will instantly step into at least a #2 option if not a #1 role is incredibly rare. He could flop, but in the five games he played this year he received 7, 9, 7, 9, and 11 targets. It's clear they don’t mind throwing him the ball.
Other WR thoughts:
Cooper Kupp is fine this week but I think there are better spots. With Deebo out, Brandon Aiyuk in the mid 5k range will be very popular, and for good reason. As mentioned with the QBs I would not shy away from Chargers-Bengals options in tournaments although they are quite pricey for cash.
Tight Ends:
Rob Gronkowski ($5,300) Prefer in tournaments
I think it is safe to say he is back and looking healthy. In the Buccaneer's last two games he has registered nine and eight targets which he has turned into thirteen receptions for 194 yards including a 100-yard bonus. I think this week is a great week to bet on him scoring as well. That volume with a little touchdown regression has me thinking he’s the guy I am stacking most with Brady this week.
Foster Moreau ($2,700) Cash-game play only
Moreau will be one of the most chalky tight-end plays of the season. He is only $200 over the minimum which is already very low when you consider WRs minimum is $3,000 and QB/RB minimums are $4,000. You don't need hardly any work for him to exceed value and if he happens to catch a TD you have a Yahtzee. I would stay far away though in tournaments as a fade is a great way to differentiate and get yourself a player with more upside.
Other TE thoughts:
Honestly, I am playing Moreau in my cash game lineup this week and Gronk in a heavy chunk of my tournament lineups. I think Pitts ($5,600) and Kittle ($5,900) are great pivots though especially Kittle with Samuel out.
Defense:
Dolphins $3300/Giants $2700
I lump these two together because they are playing one another. This Mike Glennon versus Tua Tagovailoa game should have plenty of turnovers and big defensive plays. I don't think we need to go bottom barrel fishing for defenses this week so I like this matchup a lot.
